Final Fantasy Resonance, the first Final Fantasy in the HD-2D style, launches on October 22, 2026 (according to Steam and Xbox Wire) on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Switch 2.

What is Final Fantasy Resonance?

Resonance is a single-player RPG with turn-based battles. Square Enix describes it as the first Final Fantasy in its HD-2D line, combining pixel-style visuals and 3D models with changing camera angles.

You play Rain, a knight from the kingdom of Grandshelt. After one of the crystals protecting the kingdom is destroyed, he and his childhood friend Lasswell set out to protect the others. Fina, a mysterious girl they meet in Grandshelt, joins them on the journey.

Battles reward you for exploiting weaknesses to break enemy defenses and gain extra turns, giving you an opening for powerful Resonance attacks. You can also add Visions to your party: echoes of familiar Final Fantasy characters who fight alongside you with their own skills.

Beyond the main story, there is a Colosseum and optional battles, including a showdown with Ultima Weapon. The Chamber of Arms pits you against foes sealed inside legendary weapons.

How much does it cost and where can you buy it?

The game is open for pre-order, with a Standard edition, a Digital Deluxe edition and a physical Collector's Edition. On Steam Vietnam, Standard costs 990,000 dong and Deluxe 1,390,000 dong, according to the price Steam showed on October 19, 2026. On the US Steam store it is $49.99 and $59.99. According to the Steam description, Deluxe includes the base game and the Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack. Besides the digital versions there is a physical Standard edition for PS5, Switch 2 and Switch.

Vietnamese is not supported; Steam lists English and Japanese (with voice acting), French, German, Spanish, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. It is rated ESRB E10+ and PEGI 12.

Is there a demo?

A free Steam demo lets you play the whole first chapter, with a level cap. Your save carries over when you buy the full game, so you can continue where you left off.

With the standard edition priced at 990,000 dong on Steam Vietnam, the demo gives you a chance to try the battles and see whether you like the visual style before buying.
