Right after the first season wrapped up with 26 episodes, the production team announced that the Liar Game anime will continue with a second season. The news was announced in late September 2026, along with a special commemorative illustration drawn by character designer Kei Tsuchiya.
Airing since April 2026, it is the first TV anime adapted from Shinobu Kaitani’s hit manga. The release date, episode count and story details of Season 2 have not yet been revealed by the producers.
Nao and Akiyama Return to Their Battles of Wits
Accidentally dragged into a life-or-death psychological game worth 100 million yen, Nao Kanzaki quickly becomes a vulnerable target because of her overly honest nature. Facing ruthless opponents and backed into a corner, she has to seek help from Shinichi Akiyama, a notorious genius swindler who has just been released from prison.
Without relying on violence or breathless action, Liar Game has its own appeal thanks to masterful psychological gambles. The two dive into increasingly sophisticated rounds, where reading opponents, strategic thinking and the fine line between trust and betrayal decide who survives.
The Cast and Staff Return
Season 2 is once again produced by studio Madhouse, with the full main voice cast returning: Saya Hitomi (Nao Kanzaki), Takeo Otsuka (Shinichi Akiyama), You Taichi (Yuji Fukunaga) and Natsuki Hanae (Norihiko Yokoya). The core staff from Season 1 also return, including chief director Yuzo Sato, director Asami Kawano, scriptwriter Tatsuhiko Urahata and character designer Kei Tsuchiya.
To mark the new season announcement, the team released a special series of interviews with the cast and author Shinobu Kaitani. Notably, in the fifth interview, mangaka Kaitani shared more about the behind-the-scenes production and his feelings about the Second Revival Round, the climactic arc that just wrapped up in the final episodes of the first season.
When Will Liar Game Season 2 Air?
As of now, there is no official broadcast schedule for Liar Game Season 2. The new project is in production, so fans will have to wait patiently for further announcements about its release date and episode count.
The original Liar Game manga ran in Weekly Young Jump from 2005 to 2015. With the anime’s second season greenlit, Nao and Akiyama’s thrilling journey of deception is sure to bring audiences plenty more surprises.
