Overview
Osananajimi to wa Love Comedy ni Naranai, known in English as You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!, is a 12-episode TV anime from Tezuka Productions that began airing on 5/1/2026. It adapts the manga by Shinya Misu, directed by Satoshi Kuwabara with series composition by Mitsutaka Hirota. The genre is school comedy and romance.
OtaHub's take
The protagonist Eeyuu is a high school boy whose two childhood friends, Shio and Akari, attend the same school and are far too cute. He worries about what would happen if they found out that he has started seeing them in a different light now that they have grown up, even though he has no intention of doing so. The two girls have secrets of their own, which makes everything awkward and complicated.
Verdict
A fit for viewers who like childhood-friend school romcoms with plenty of awkward moments and a quick comic pace. This is the first season and the data lists no prequel, so you can start from episode one.
