Haikyu!! the Movie: VS The Little Giant will adapt the Karasuno vs. Kamomedai match at the national tournament, where Shoyo Hinata faces Korai Hoshiumi, two short players who both chase the image of the "Little Giant." The official site currently lists Production I.G as the producer, with Susumu Mitsunaka handling both direction and the screenplay.

What has the film confirmed?
- Title: Haikyu!! the Movie: VS The Little Giant.
- Central match: Karasuno vs. Kamomedai.
- Director and screenplay: Susumu Mitsunaka.
- Studio: Production I.G.
- Timing: the project is part of the 2027 release plan; specific release dates in Japan and Vietnam have not been announced.
Why are Hinata and Hoshiumi such a special matchup?
Hinata once looked to the "Little Giant" as proof that height does not decide who can be an ace. Hoshiumi is a more refined version of that ideal: well-rounded technique, jumping ability and confidence that has been honed. So the duel is not just about who jumps higher; it forces Hinata to rethink how he defines his own value on the court.
Kamomedai is also different from Nekoma. Where the "Battle of the Garbage Dump" leaned on memory and a long, drawn-out rhythm, Kamomedai applies pressure through a disciplined blocking system. Karasuno has to find a way to break a team that rarely loses its structure, which gives every combination between Kageyama and the attackers a clear tactical meaning.

How does Where Monsters Go fit in?
The special anime project Where Monsters Go focuses on the Fukurodani vs. Mujinazaka match. It fills in a part of the national tournament that sits outside Karasuno's direct point of view, especially by developing Bokuto as he faces Kiryu. Viewers should treat it as a companion piece, not a replacement for the content of the feature film.
Is this the end of the whole Haikyu!! story?
This is the next film in the movie project that finishes the main anime adaptation, but the manga still has the post-nationals aftermath and the time skip. Because a film's running time is limited, it cannot yet be said that every remaining chapter will appear in full. The official announcement does not yet state the film's running time or the final structure of the adaptation.
OtaHub's take: the biggest challenge is keeping both the tactical progression and the emotion of a long match within a film's format. Mitsunaka has already shown he can condense the Nekoma match, but Karasuno vs. Kamomedai needs more room for Hinata's growth; otherwise the climax risks becoming a string of good-looking highlights without weight.
