Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc adapts the Reze arc (chapters 39–52 of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga) and continues directly from MAPPA’s season 1 anime. The film follows Denji as he meets Reze, a mysterious girl working at a café, and his clash with the Bomb Devil. It is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara.

In Japan the film opened in 421 theaters, sold 807,000 tickets and earned about ¥1.25 billion (~$8.46 million) in its opening week, then passed ¥10 billion domestically. Before its US and UK release it had already earned over $68 million from 13 Asian markets, and its final worldwide gross reached about $191.4 million. In the US, roughly 63% of revenue came from premium formats such as IMAX and 3D.
Reception
The film holds 100% from critics (14 reviews at the time of reporting) and 99% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, plus an A CinemaScore. It is the second Tatsuki Fujimoto adaptation to earn 100% on the platform, after Look Back (2024).
What’s next
MAPPA announced at Jump Festa 2026 that Chainsaw Man Season 2 – Assassins Arc is in production. There is no air date yet; sources suggest 2027 at the earliest.
