What Jump+ said

On the evening of September 30, 2026 (Japan time), Shonen Jump+’s official X account posted a written notice. According to Dengeki Online’s transcription, Shueisha said it ended its outsourcing of editorial work to Mix Green as of July 31, 2026, and with it all work with Mix Green editor Shihei Lin.

Jump+ said the series Shueisha had assigned to Lin will “continue serialization on Shonen Jump+ under a new structure”. The notice gave no reason, named no series, and came about two months after the contract actually ended.

Lin responds: four series sign directly with Mix Green

About two hours later, Lin posted a statement on X as president of Mix Green. For four ongoing series, the artists have signed contracts directly with Mix Green and Lin will continue as editor:

  • Spy x Family by Tatsuya Endo
  • Dandadan by Yukinobu Tatsu
  • Centuria
  • WITCHRIV

Lin wrote that Mix Green will “keep giving it our all, as always” to help bring readers great manga. Taken together, Spy x Family and Dandadan stay on Jump+, but the editorial relationship now runs through contracts between the authors and Mix Green rather than between Shueisha and Mix Green.

What about Chainsaw Man?

Chainsaw Man is not on the list of four. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Part 2 ended in March 2026, with no Part 3 announced. Neither statement mentions it. Some sites wrongly reported that Lin had been removed from Dandadan, but Lin’s statement says the opposite.

Who is Shihei Lin?

Lin joined Shueisha in 2006, working at Monthly Shonen Jump and then Jump SQ., where according to KAI-YOU Lin launched series such as Blue Exorcist, before moving to Jump+. Lin edited Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family and Dandadan. Dandadan became the first series to pass 1 billion cumulative views on the app, as Lin announced in February 2026.

Few knew that Lin had already left Shueisha at the end of August 2022 to found Mix Green, continuing as a freelance editor for Jump+. Lin only made this public in 2024. In April 2026, Mix Green opened its own editorial department and submission platform, and in May 2026 it launched the MIX GREEN MANGA AWARD.

Are the anime adaptations affected?

As of October 5, 2026, no statement mentions the anime of Spy x Family, Dandadan or Chainsaw Man. Both statements cover manga editing only.

OtaHub’s take

Manga editors usually stay behind the scenes, so a major publisher publicly cutting ties with one is rare; a Yahoo News Japan commentator called it an unusual situation. More telling is the authors’ choice: Tatsuya Endo and Yukinobu Tatsu, creators of two of Jump+’s big hits, chose to keep working with their editor.

For readers, the good news is that no series is stopping. The open questions are the real reason, and where the relationship between Jump+ and Mix Green, which now runs its own platform, goes next.
