Overview
AION 2 is NCSOFT's open-world MMORPG, set 200 years after the original AION of 2008. According to RPG Site, the world is about 36 times larger than its predecessor and flight is a core mechanic, enabling aerial combat in both PvE and PvP. The game launched in South Korea and Taiwan on 19 November 2025, ahead of its global version.
OtaHub's take
RPG Site lists eight classes with over 200 customization options, solo and four-player dungeons, eight-player raids and several PvP formats: 1v1 and 4v4 arenas, cross-server realm battles and the faction-based Abyss. Underwater exploration is included too. Engine and Steam page details could not be verified, since the Steam page was unavailable in the writer's region.
The global version launched on 5 October 2026 on PC via Steam and NC's PURPLE launcher, free to play, across North America, South America, Europe and Asia at once (per NBN TV). Founder's Pack buyers got a five-day head start from 30 September, per OtaHub. A monthly membership is optional, alongside a Battle Pass and cosmetics. No console release date has been announced. OtaHub reported that on 5 October the Steam page showed as unavailable from Vietnam and the game has no Vietnamese language.
Verdict
AION 2 suits fans of classic MMORPGs who want flight and large-scale PvP on top. Being free to play, trying it costs little, though players in Vietnam should check whether the game opens in their region first. It is too early to say anything about how the global servers hold up long term.
