Overview
Dragon's Dogma 2 is a single-player, third-person action RPG developed and published by Capcom, directed by Hideaki Itsuno. It launched worldwide in late March 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, as the sequel to 2012's Dragon's Dogma. According to its Steam page, players shape the experience through their character's appearance, vocation, party of pawns and approach to each situation in a fantasy world.

On 9/10/2026, Capcom releases the Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. It sends the Arisen to Norgan, an abandoned northern region, where they meet Eir and uncover the secrets of the undying Fallen Dragon. The expansion also adds 12 Lost Rites dungeon challenges spread across the existing world, a Relic system with gear carrying its own skills, and more character creator options such as hairstyles and tattoos.
On price, the expansion costs 29.99 USD on its own for existing owners on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game makes its first appearance on Switch 2 and is sold only as a bundle of the base game plus the expansion at 49.99 USD. The sources OtaHub opened do not state the expansion's total playtime, so that figure cannot be confirmed. Sources also differ on the Steam and Xbox expansion date (8/10 versus 9/10), so check the storefront.
Verdict
It suits fans of open-world RPGs where you pick your own vocation, build your own party and decide how to approach things. Players who have finished the base game are the best fit for Dark Arisen. Newcomers can consider the 49.99 USD Switch 2 bundle, but the real performance of the Switch 2 version still needs independent reviews.
