Overview
Kuri Hime Ayakashi Yobanashi is a manga by Anko Chōchin, adapted from the novel by Natsu Hyuuga (Hyuganatsu), author of The Apothecary Diaries. AniList and other databases list the original Japanese title as Kurimiko Ayakashi Yobanashi (繰り巫女あやかし夜噺), while Kuri Hime is the spelling commonly seen in news coverage. It has run in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum since December 2024.
OtaHub's take
The heroine lives as a shrine maiden in a weaving hut on the grounds of a shrine in the old capital, while also working part-time as a university lecturer teaching textiles and Japanese culture. When a student comes to ask about exorcism and a curse, she steps into a supernatural world hidden behind a peaceful everyday life.
Unlike The Apothecary Diaries, set in an imperial court, this work leans toward daily life, folklore and yokai. The original story was first posted on the novel site Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Ichijinsha released volume 1 in July 2025 and volume 2 in April 2026, so the manga has only two volumes before it ends.
According to the announcement, the final chapter will appear in the Monthly Comic Zero-Sum issue dated 28 October 2026, after nearly two years of serialization. As of 2 October 2026 it is therefore still ongoing. Verdict: suited to readers who like light mystery with Japanese cultural elements and want a short series.
