Overview
Lies of P is a souls-like action RPG developed by Round8 Studio and published by NEOWIZ, released on 19 September 2023 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Inspired by Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio, it casts players as P, a puppet awakened by Geppetto in Krat, a city styled after late 19th-century Europe that is sinking into chaos as its puppets run out of control.
OtaHub's take
Combat demands precise blocking and dodging, with a Perfect Guard mechanic that breaks enemies' stance. A weapon assembly system lets players combine blades and handles from different weapons, while the mechanical Legion Arm adds its own combat tools. The defining idea is lying: honest or deceptive choices in dialogue affect how human P becomes and how the story ends.
In June 2025 the Overture expansion arrived, taking players back to Krat's past before the events of the main game. As OtaHub reported, on 6 August 2026 Lies of P: Complete Edition, bundling the base game, Overture and all released updates, launched on Nintendo Switch 2, the first time the game appeared on a Nintendo system, with several graphics modes balancing resolution against frame rate.
Verdict
For souls-like fans who want a world with a strong atmosphere, combat built around parrying and a fairy tale reimagined for adults. Newcomers to the genre should be ready for many defeats against the early bosses before things click. The Complete Edition is the most sensible starting point since it bundles both the base game and Overture, and Switch 2 players should favour the Performance mode for a steadier frame rate.
