Overview
Sifu is a third-person action brawler developed by the French studio Sloclap on Unreal Engine 4. You play a kung-fu student hunting those who killed your master. The combat draws on Bak Mei kung fu and 1970s to 80s Hong Kong action films, with over 150 unique attacks, timed parries and use of objects in the environment. Your targets are the leaders of a gang, each tied to an elemental talisman.
OtaHub's take
The game is best known for its aging mechanic. A pendant revives you after each defeat, but you get older and hit harder while your maximum health shrinks. When the pendant breaks, there is no coming back. There are two endings, depending on whether you choose mercy or vengeance. The original launched on 8 February 2022 on PS4, PS5 and PC, then came to Switch on 8 November 2022 and Xbox on 28 March 2023. According to Wikipedia, it passed 4 million copies sold by May 2025.
On 12 October 2026, Sifu arrives on iOS and Android with the full story campaign, not a cut-down version. Sloclap reworked the touch controls, improved contextual interactions and rebuilt the camera, and full controller support is included. The App Store listing says the iOS version needs iOS or iPadOS 18 or later and is about 2.1 GB, while the Android version is open for pre-registration on Google Play. Pricing and Android requirements were not stated in the sources OtaHub read. Sloclap appears as publisher in those sources, and Kepler Interactive is listed alongside Sloclap in the release information.
Verdict
Sifu remains one of the most finely tuned kung-fu games around, and one of the most punishing. The mobile version is notable for keeping the whole campaign, and the open question is how precise touch controls feel, so a controller is the safe choice. If you own a PC or console, the original is ready now; phone-only players should wait for 12 October and watch the early reports on controls.
