Yani Neko

Overview

Yani Neko (known in English as Chainsmoker Cat) centers on Yani, a catgirl with a seriously bad smoking habit. Her apartment smells like ash and is littered with cigarette butts and plenty of other trash. Every time she tries to quit, she becomes weak to the cravings and gives in almost instantly. Will she get her life together, or stay a chain-smoking slob forever?

OtaHub's take

It is based on Nyan Nyan Factory's manga, produced by Bibury Animation Studio, directed by Taku Kimura, runs 12 episodes, and began airing on 2/7/2026. The genres are comedy, ecchi, and slice of life. The related-works data lists a side story, Yani Neko Mini, so this may be part of a wider set of content around the character.

Verdict

It suits adult viewers who like slice-of-life comedy with an ecchi edge and bittersweet characters, and who can tolerate depictions of smoking. According to the available data, nothing needs to be watched first.
