What is Part 4 about?

Part 4 is titled “Founder of the Royal Academy’s So-Called Library Committee” (Kizoku-in no Jishō Tosho Iin). After becoming the archduke’s adopted daughter in Part 3, Rozemyne enters the Royal Academy for noble children. As the title suggests, she is still a girl who will do anything to be near books, including appointing herself founder of a “library committee.”

The Part 3 anime just wrapped after half a year

The Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke anime premiered on April 4, 2026 on Yomiuri TV and NTV at 5:30 p.m. JST, ran for two consecutive cours over half a year, and ended on October 3. Yuka Iguchi returned as Rozemyne (formerly Myne) and Show Hayami as Ferdinand. New cast members included Minami Takayama (Florencia) and Kazuhiro Yamaji (Bonifatius).

It also marked a staff change. Yoshiaki Iwasaki, director of Kowloon Generic Romance, Hayate the Combat Butler and We Never Learn, replaced Mitsuru Hongō as director at Wit Studio. Mariko Kunisawa returned to write the scripts, Aiko Minowa took over character design, and MICHIRU returned to compose the music.

Bookworm’s anime journey so far

  • Season 3: April 2022.
  • Part 3 (Wit Studio): April to October 2026, two consecutive cours.
  • Part 4 (Wit Studio): confirmed, no date yet.

The original is Miya Kazuki’s web novel, serialized on Shōsetsuka ni Narō from 2013 to 2017, then published as light novels illustrated by You Shiina. The main series ended with 33 volumes in December 2023 and has more than 13 million copies in circulation.

Where to watch Ascendance of a Bookworm

Crunchyroll streams the Part 3 anime with English subtitles and an English dub, and streamed all three earlier seasons as they aired. It is the easiest way to catch up before Part 4 arrives.

OtaHub’s take

Keeping Wit Studio is a good sign. Part 3 changed its director and character designer, a big shift for a show that had already run three seasons. Confirming the same team the moment Part 3 ended suggests the committee is happy with the new direction. Part 4 is also the arc many fans have waited for: the academy setting opens up a whole new noble world, a large cast of new characters and a noticeably faster pace than the early parts.

The open question is timing. Part 3 took two cours for one part of the novels, so if Part 4 follows the same pattern, it will likely be a long project too. There is no word on a broadcast year yet.
