2027 is shaping up to be an incredibly busy year for anime as a wave of major franchises return. From the One Piece remake and new seasons of Frieren and Sakamoto Days to The Apothecary Diaries, Kagurabachi and Delicious in Dungeon, the 2027 anime calendar is looking more and more exciting.
Here are the 10 most notable anime expected in 2027.
1. The One Piece
The One Piece is WIT Studio’s remake of the One Piece anime, releasing on Netflix.
Unlike the TV series spanning more than a thousand episodes, the new version retells the story from the beginning at a tighter pace. The first part focuses on East Blue, where Luffy begins his journey and meets Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji in turn. The anime is expected to premiere in February 2027.
2. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 3
After two seasons that drew enormous interest from viewers, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End returns for Season 3 in 2027.
The new season is expected to adapt the Golden Land Arc, taking Frieren, Fern and Stark on an adventure full of mysteries involving magic and demons. The arc also expands the story of Denken and Macht.
Under the current schedule, Season 3 is confirmed for October 2027.
3. Sakamoto Days Season 2
Sakamoto Days returns in January 2027 with its second season. The story continues to follow Sakamoto and Shin as they infiltrate the JCC, the famous assassin training school. The new season also digs deeper into the pasts of Sakamoto, Nagumo, Rion and Slur.
Trailers released in 2026 revealed many more important characters, making Season 2 one of the most notable action anime of early 2027.
4. Kagurabachi
Starting as a new Weekly Shonen Jump manga, Kagurabachi is becoming one of the most talked-about anime projects. The story follows Chihiro Rokuhira, son of a famous swordsmith. After his father is murdered, Chihiro sets out to hunt down those responsible for the tragedy and the stolen enchanted swords.
The Kagurabachi anime is confirmed for 2027, with current sources pointing to an April release.
5. The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 – Part 2
The Apothecary Diaries also makes the list of 2027’s most anticipated anime. Season 3 is split into two cours: the first part begins in October 2026, while Part 2 returns in April 2027.
Maomao will continue solving new mysteries, while her story with Jinshi becomes increasingly tied to bigger upheavals beyond the inner palace.
6. Delicious in Dungeon Season 2
Delicious in Dungeon returns with Season 2 in October 2027. After their adventures in the dungeon, Laios and his party venture deeper into a world full of monsters, magic and undiscovered secrets.
The series still stands out for its blend of fantasy, adventure and cooking, giving it a distinctly different flavor from many other fantasy anime.
7. Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 3
Mashle is expected to return for Season 3 in 2027. Mash Burnedead keeps facing stronger opponents in a world where magic determines everyone’s status.
The anime stands out for combining battle shounen and comedy, with a protagonist who solves almost every problem with... muscles instead of magic.
8. One Punch Man Season 3 – The Next Part
One Punch Man Season 3 is also among the anime mentioned for 2027. The next part will continue the war between the heroes and the Monster Association, while expanding the battles surrounding Garou.
However, 2027 should currently be treated as an expected window for the next part rather than a fully confirmed release date.
9. Chainsaw Man Season 2
Following the events of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, the series’ next season is also a name the anime community is especially interested in. Chainsaw Man Season 2 often appears on 2027 anime lists, but its official release timing still awaits an announcement from the team.
If the project does air in 2027, it will again be one of the year’s most talked-about action anime.
10. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4
Jujutsu Kaisen continues to appear on many lists of the most anticipated anime for 2027.
After Season 3, the story moves closer to the key events of the manga’s final arc. However, like Chainsaw Man, Season 4 doesn’t yet have an officially confirmed 2027 release date at this time.
2027 Could Be a Big Year for Anime
What stands out about the 2027 anime calendar is the simultaneous arrival of long-running franchises and new-generation names: The One Piece, Frieren, Sakamoto Days, The Apothecary Diaries and Delicious in Dungeon already have more specific release information, while Kagurabachi is emerging as a notable newcomer.
Meanwhile, projects like Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer remain of great interest to the community even though some of their 2027 schedules haven’t been fully confirmed. If the current release schedules hold, 2027 will be a year packed with a large and diverse lineup of anime, spanning shounen, fantasy, action, sports and adventure.
