An anniversary event doesn't always stop at celebrating what has passed. At the special event for Season 2 held at The Garden Hall, Ebisu, Tokyo on August 2, 2026, the organizers Chained Soldier (original title: Mato Seihei no Slave) gave fans a much bigger surprise: official confirmation Season 3. The announcement comes with a completely new key visual and a short PV, enough to make the auditorium, and soon social networks, explode.
When Does Chained Soldier Season 3 Air?
There is no release date yet for Season 3. The August 2, 2026 announcement only confirmed the new season is in the works, with a key visual and promotional video, and did not reveal a broadcast window, studio, director or streaming platform.
- Season 1: aired January–March 2024
- Season 2: premiered January 8, 2026 with 12 episodes on Tokyo MX, BS Asahi, MBS and AT-X; directed by Masafumi Tamura with character designs by Keiya Nakano, produced by Passione and Hayabusa Film
- International streaming: HIDIVE, with an English dub for both seasons
- Source: the manga Mato Seihei no Slave by Takahiro (story) and Yōhei Takemura (art), serialized on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ since January 2019; English edition by Yen Press
A confirmation, but many open questions remain
It's noteworthy that this announcement was quite "sparing" in the literal sense. Besides confirming the project has been greenlit, the organizers didn't reveal the animation studio in charge, didn't announce a broadcast date, and haven't confirmed the official cast for the new season. The only things accompanying the announcement, besides the key visual, were short comments from the nine voice cast members, many of whom expressed excitement mixed with surprise, suggesting that perhaps even they only learned about the event shortly before.

Why is this type of announcement often synonymous with "it's still early"?
For those familiar with how the anime industry announces projects, this type of "confirmed but no date" announcement is usually a signal that production is in its early stages. No studio, no release date, no full trailer-all suggest a longer-term commitment rather than a plan ready to launch immediately. The most realistic expectation, according to observers, is that Season 3 will most likely not air before 2027.
Why does Chained Soldier still retain its loyal fan base?
Chained Soldier garnered attention for its worldview inspired by the familiar isekai-dark-fantasy motif, but handled with a more serious tone than most competitors in the genre. It revolves around Yuuki Wakura and his journey in Mato, a parallel world teeming with monsters called Yomotsu Shuuki. The fact that the series has been greenlit for a third season, even without a specific release date, shows that the studio and publisher still have long-term faith in the commercial potential of this brand.

Currently, all fans can do is wait, but at least this wait has a solid foundation: Season 3 is no longer a rumor, but an officially confirmed project. More specific information about the studio, cast, and broadcast date will likely be gradually revealed during major anime events in 2027.
