In its September 30 announcement, Pearl Abyss said the development team is still working to bring new adventures to Pywel. However, the developer felt it needed more time to make sure the DLC delivers a more polished and stable gameplay experience.

Pearl Abyss also apologized to players for the extra wait and said the additional time will be used to keep refining the content before the DLC officially launches.

The DLC Expands Crimson Desert’s World With Lots of New Content

Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown

Charting the Unknown is billed as a major expansion for Crimson Desert. The DLC’s trailer previously revealed a range of new activities, such as sailing boats, exploring islands and diving into underwater areas. Players can also hunt for treasure and explore ruins beneath the sea.

Beyond exploration, the DLC adds a base building and decoration system, giving players more options outside the familiar combat and exploration activities.

The new story continues to follow Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. The three characters set out on a new journey to find their purpose and direction for the future while facing new challenges in Pywel.

Pearl Abyss Needs More Time to Finish the DLC

The reason Pearl Abyss gave for the delay is straightforward: the team needs more time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience.

Rather than sticking to the October 15 date, the developer decided to spend two more weeks refining the content. Pearl Abyss said the goal is to use this time to make the DLC as good as possible before it reaches players.

The delay also comes not long after Pearl Abyss announced the DLC at a PlayStation State of Play. Charting the Unknown was originally set to release on October 15, 2026.

When Does Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown Release?

Following the schedule change, Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown will officially release on October 29, 2026.

According to the release schedule announced by Pearl Abyss, the DLC unlocks in Europe at 22:00 UTC on October 29, or 23:00 CEST. In North America, it unlocks at 3:00 PM PT and 6:00 PM ET the same day. In Asia, the release time is 7:00 AM on October 30 Korea and Japan time.

For players in Vietnam (UTC+7), the DLC will be playable at around 5:00 AM on October 30, 2026.

Pearl Abyss has already opened pre-orders for Charting the Unknown on supported platforms. The DLC has its own price and some pre-order bonuses, including diving outfits for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane.

So Crimson Desert players will have to wait two more weeks to begin the new journey in Charting the Unknown. With the extra time, Pearl Abyss will continue polishing the DLC before officially bringing the new content to Pywel on October 29, 2026.
