Overview
Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure developed and published by Pearl Abyss, released on 19 March 2026. It runs on PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The setting is the continent of Pywel, where you play Kliff of the Greymanes faction, searching for scattered comrades, rebuilding the faction and facing a growing threat.
OtaHub's take
Pywel stretches from wilderness and cities to ruins and a mysterious region called the Abyss, leaving players to choose their own path through combat and discovery. The project drew attention for a development that spanned many years, and as publicly reported, Pearl Abyss shifted toward a single-player experience along the way.
The game keeps expanding after launch. According to OtaHub, the Charting the Unknown DLC adds boat control, island exploration, diving for treasure and ruins, plus a base building and decoration system. The new story still follows Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. The DLC was delayed two weeks, from 15 to 29 October 2026, for further polish.
Verdict
Suits players who enjoy vast open worlds with plenty to discover, and who are ready to spend many hours on a solo adventure.
