Overview

Battlefield 6 is a first-person shooter developed by Battlefield Studios, a group made up of DICE, Criterion Games, Motive Studio and Ripple Effect Studios, and published by Electronic Arts on 10 October 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. After the mixed reception of Battlefield 2042, the new entry returns to a modern setting, with a campaign set in 2027-2028 as NATO faces Pax Armata, a private military company.

OtaHub's take

Multiplayer brings back the four-class system of Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon, each with its own weapons and tools. Environmental destruction is central: walls, buildings and obstacles can be brought down to open new paths or erase an enemy's cover. Infantry, tanks, helicopters and jets share large maps, producing the familiar large-scale chaos the series is known for.

On 28 October 2025, EA added REDSEC, a free-to-play battle royale mode launched alongside Season 1, and the game continues to receive seasonal content such as new maps, weapons and modes. According to OtaHub's game pricing analysis, a year after launch Battlefield 6 is discounted by 50% on Steam compared with its 69.99 USD launch price.

Verdict

Suited to players who enjoy large-scale shooting, squad coordination and battles where the terrain keeps changing. Those mainly looking for a story campaign should think twice, because the best part of the game is its multiplayer. With the current discount and the free REDSEC mode, this is a more accessible moment for newcomers who want to try the Battlefield series.
