Daemons of the Shadow Realm

Overview

Daemons of the Shadow Realm, originally titled Yomi no Tsugai, adapts the manga by Hiromu Arakawa. The series runs 24 episodes, is produced by BONES FILM and began airing on 4/4/2026. It is set in a remote mountain village watched over by two stone guardians, where young Yuru lives off the land and stays close to his twin sister Asa, his only remaining family.

OtaHub's take

Asa carries out a mysterious duty for the village while locked in a cage, which is the starting point for a series of secrets. The series mixes action, adventure, comedy, fantasy and the supernatural. Masahiro Andou directs, Noboru Takagi handles series composition, and the related data records a second season.

Verdict

It suits viewers who like adventurous fantasy with a slightly dark mood and a world revealed gradually, especially those already familiar with Hiromu Arakawa's style. It starts from the beginning, so nothing else needs to be watched first.
