Overview
Forza Horizon 6 is the latest entry in the open-world Forza Horizon racing series, developed by Playground Games with help from Turn 10 Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios. It is set in Japan, host of the Horizon Festival, with Tokyo as the largest urban area in the series, plus mountains, countryside, docks and industrial districts. Players start out as a tourist chasing a dream of joining the Horizon Festival.

According to Xbox Wire, the game has about 550 cars at launch, including many classic JDM models; the cover cars are the 2025 GR GT Prototype and the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. Listed features include the Collection Journal inspired by Japanese stamp collecting, a mountain Estate inspired by akiya homes, eight purchasable homes, Daikoku-style car meets and CoLab, a mode for community-made events anywhere on the map.
The game launched on 19 May 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam, day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass; Premium Edition owners played early from 15 May. A PlayStation 5 version is confirmed for later in 2026, but the sources read give no exact date. Per Wikipedia it holds a Metacritic score of 90 on both PC and Xbox, matching the figure OtaHub cites in its 2026 PC games roundup.
Verdict
Forza Horizon 6 is close to the default pick for open-world racing fans, especially those who love Japanese car culture. Game Pass subscribers can play right away, while PlayStation players must wait for a PS5 version with no date yet.
