Overview

Monster Hunter Outlanders is a hunting game for iOS and Android developed by TiMi Studio Group (Tencent) under licence from, and with supervision by, Capcom. Level Infinite publishes it globally and Garena publishes it in Southeast Asia. Unlike earlier mobile entries in the series, which were puzzle or AR games, Outlanders aims at hunting gameplay closer to the console games, set in an open world called Aesoland.

OtaHub's take

You can hunt solo or in a party of up to four. The game includes gear and tool crafting, building, multiple biomes, an Adventurers system with unique abilities and a Buddies companion system, and it supports two control modes. Launch content includes the original Elder Dragon Ruger Aidal, Azure Rathalos and the Charge Blade, alongside the hammer. The developers say more monsters, weapon types, areas and Adventurer actions will follow after launch.

The game is free to play with in-app purchases and launches worldwide on 29 October 2026, excluding mainland China. A separate mainland China version is planned from 2027 onwards. Pre-registration is open on the App Store and Google Play. The sources do not detail what is sold in-game or how monetisation works, so that part has to wait for launch.

Verdict

this suits series veterans who want a lighter hunting fix on a phone, and newcomers who like hunting in a group with friends. Confirmed so far are the release date, the free-to-play model, four-player parties and the first wave of monsters and weapons. Still unknown are the in-app purchase details and how deep the combat feels compared with the console games.
