What does the mobile version have?
According to Eurogamer, the game’s App Store and Google Play pages appeared on October 7 without any announcement from Netflix or Capcom. The game requires a Netflix membership but is downloaded and runs directly on the device rather than streaming from the cloud. The store description lists three changes specific to the mobile version:
- Quests unlocked by progression: challenge quests and event quests that were once paid or time-limited DLC unlock gradually as you play.
- A new recovery button: automatically picks the most suitable item based on health and status.
- Reworked touch controls: for every weapon type, suited to phone and tablet screens.
The game supports hunting with up to three other players online. According to Siliconera, this appears to be the base game, without the Sunbreak expansion. The iOS version is about 797 MB, needs iOS 18 and runs on both iPhone and iPad.
Can players in Vietnam download it?
Not yet. Checking the App Store, the game appears only in the Philippines and Malaysia, not in Vietnam, the US, Japan or many other regions. On top of that, in April 2024 Netflix removed its games section in Vietnam after Vietnam’s Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information asked it to stop distributing unlicensed games. So even if the rollout expands to more regions, the Netflix version of Monster Hunter Rise will likely still not reach Vietnam.
Rise passes 20 million copies, Outlanders is coming
The timing is not a coincidence. On October 6, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Rise has passed 20 million copies worldwide. At the end of the month, on October 29, Monster Hunter Outlanders, an open-world mobile Monster Hunter game developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio together with Capcom, launches free on iOS and Android, with a China version following from 2027.

Putting a full mainline Monster Hunter on phones, including quests that were once DLC, is a bargain for anyone who already has Netflix. But for players in Vietnam this door is closed because Netflix Games does not operate there. Anyone who wants to hunt monsters on a phone should probably keep an eye on Monster Hunter Outlanders on October 29, or play Rise on Switch, PC and consoles.
