Overview

Phantom Blade Zero is an action RPG from Chinese studio S-GAME, scheduled for 29 October 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC after a delay of about 50 days from its original 9 September 2026 date. Players control Soul, the top assassin of a secret organisation, who is framed for the murder of its leader. Gravely wounded and then revived, he has only 66 days to uncover the truth in a dark martial-arts world called the Phantom World.

OtaHub's take

Director Soulframe Liang calls the game's style "kungfupunk": traditional Chinese martial arts mixed with steampunk and cyberpunk. Third-person combat revolves around two weapon slots, a blade plus secondary arms such as cannons or axes, along with blocking, parrying, dodging and quick repositioning. The map follows a semi-open design that lets players explore without following a single straight path.

Martial arts star Donnie Yen has served as a creative consultant since 2023, bringing his experience in staging film action to the combat design. According to OtaHub's coverage, a dedicated State of Play on 17 August 2026 showed nearly 20 minutes of new gameplay as PS5 pre-orders opened. The project drew strong attention after its PlayStation Showcase 2023 reveal, and interest grew further after the success of Black Myth: Wukong.

Verdict

Worth following for players who enjoy reflex-heavy action that rewards precise parrying and who love a wuxia atmosphere. Since the game is not out yet, it is wise to wait for reviews covering stability and content length before deciding on a day-one purchase. Players who enjoyed Black Myth: Wukong or other parry-focused action games are likely to find this direction appealing.
