The official homepage of the anime adaptation of the light novel Reincarnated as a Sword (Tenken) by author Yuu Tanaka has just confirmed Season 2 will officially air from today 7/10/2026. Along with the announcement, the production team also released a new trailer and key visual, and also revealed the soundtrack: the opening song "DREAM OF BUTTERFLY" by the band FMZ performed, and the ending theme "Baribari Buddy" performed by Hanabi express.

Airing early on ABEMA, debuting at Anime NYC
Japanese streaming service ABEMA will stream the anime a week early, starting September 30, before launching globally on October 7. HIDIVE will air concurrently with its Japanese schedule, and will hold the North American premiere of the new season at the Anime NYC event on August 22.
Studio C2C returns, director Shinji Ishihira at the helm
Studio C2C continues to be responsible for animation production for Season 2, with Shinji Ishihira acting as director, Takahiro Nagano in charge of overall scriptwriting and Atsuki Saito In charge of character design. Season 1 debuted in 2022 with 12 episodes, was positively received and was quickly confirmed to continue the new season right after it aired.

About the original work
Reincarnated as a Sword revolves around a sentient sword, possessing memories from a past life but having forgotten its name, that saves a cat-eared girl named Fran from slavery. Fran becomes the sword's wielder, only wishing to become stronger, while the sword yearns to discover its reason for existence. Yuu Tanaka began serializing the novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro in October 2015, with illustrations by LLO; a manga adaptation by Tomoo Maruyama debuted in 2016, along with a spin-off manga "Another Wish" by Hinako Inoue, which debuted in 2020.
