Dragon Ball Super: Beerus begins airing in Japan on October 11, 2026. It is an ENHANCED edition that restructures the opening of Dragon Ball Super centered on Beerus and the Super Saiyan God, not an all-new sequel. The project reworks the visuals, audio and editing, while aiming for a presentation closer to Akira Toriyama’s original work.

Broadcast Schedule and Confirmed Details

The official Dragon Ball website says the series will begin both broadcasting and streaming in October, but international platform availability may vary by region. Viewers outside Japan should wait for announcements from their local license holder rather than assuming the Japanese schedule applies to every service.
What Does the ENHANCED Edition Change?
The project isn’t just a resolution bump for old episodes. The team rebuilt the visuals, especially the fight scenes, adjusted existing scenes and added new material. Dialogue, music and sound effects have also been refreshed for more consistent pacing. The “Super Surge” trailer uses new footage, showing the Goku–Beerus clash with refined expressions and animation.
What remains unclear is the exact episode count and how much each part differs from the 2015 anime. So calling this a “full remake of Dragon Ball Super” would be too broad; official information currently focuses on the Beerus arc at the start of the series.
The Beerus Story for Newcomers
After the defeat of Majin Buu, Goku keeps training in peacetime. Beerus, the God of Destruction of Universe 7, wakes from a long sleep and searches for the “Super Saiyan God” warrior who appeared in his dream. The search brings Beerus and Whis to Earth, where a small conflict could get the entire planet wiped out.
To face Beerus, Goku has to reach a new Saiyan state not only through his own training but also through a connection with other Saiyans. The arc expands Dragon Ball’s scale from threats on Earth to a system of gods, a multiverse and rules that later become the foundation of Dragon Ball Super.
How Is It Different From the Battle of Gods Movie?
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods tells the same premise in a condensed film format. The 2015 Dragon Ball Super anime expanded the story across multiple episodes but drew complaints about its pacing and inconsistent visuals. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is a revision of the TV version, making it a good fit for viewers who want to follow the series but prefer a tighter, more consistent opening.
Early Screening Event
The first episode is scheduled for an early screening at New York Comic Con on October 8, 2026, three days before the Japanese premiere. The panel features Jason Douglas, Ian Sinclair and Monica Rial, the English voice actors for Beerus, Whis and Bulma, but the event does not mean the English dub will release worldwide on the same day.
