Monster Hunter Wilds launched worldwide on February 28, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Capcom released all three versions on the same day and enabled cross-play, allowing hunters on supported platforms to form parties together.

The original open beta is no longer active. PC players who want to test their hardware can instead download the free Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo currently listed on Steam. Because the full game has received patches since launch, current store information is more useful than old beta guidance.

Official minimum PC requirements

The Steam listing requires a 64-bit processor and operating system, DirectX 12 and an SSD. At launch, Capcom listed Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-10600 or Intel Core i3-12100F, or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 as the minimum CPU tier. The minimum graphics tier included the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT with 6 GB of VRAM.

The minimum profile targets 1080p output upscaled from 720p at 30 frames per second on the lowest preset. That target is a compatibility baseline, not a promise that every busy hunt will remain perfectly smooth.

Recommended PC requirements

For the recommended profile, the launch listing named an Intel Core i5-11600K, Intel Core i5-12400, AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or AMD Ryzen 5 5500. Suggested graphics cards included the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super or AMD Radeon RX 6600 with 8 GB of VRAM.

Capcom described this profile as targeting 1080p at 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled on the medium preset. Both profiles listed 16 GB of system memory. Storage requirements and supported operating systems may change as updates and optional high-resolution assets are released, so players should treat the live store page as authoritative.

How to check performance before buying

Compare the exact model of your CPU and GPU with the current listing, update the graphics driver and keep enough free SSD space for the installation and future patches. Laptop components with similar names may perform differently from desktop versions, particularly when power or cooling is limited.

The free Prologue Demo is the most practical test because it runs on the player's own hardware. Try representative combat, reduce demanding options such as shadows and volumetric effects, and watch for stutter as well as average frame rate. A stable 30 or 60 fps target is generally more useful during hunts than a higher number that fluctuates sharply.

What the game adds to the series

Wilds builds its hunts around changing ecosystems. Weather and periods of abundance affect the landscape, monsters and available resources, while the Seikret mount helps the hunter travel and carry a secondary weapon. Cross-play expands the potential matchmaking pool, although an online connection and platform account requirements still apply.
