Overview
Aniimo is an open-world creature-collection RPG developed by Pawprint Studio and released as a free-to-play game. Players take the role of a Pathfinder arriving on the continent of Idyll, where Aniimo creatures roam across varied terrain. The PC and console versions went live on 16 September 2026 on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with the iOS and Android versions following a week later on 23 September.
OtaHub's take
What sets Aniimo apart from a typical monster-catching game is that each creature has its own way of moving, interacting and fighting, so it is both a teammate and a tool for crossing terrain or solving puzzles. The pace leans toward observation and experimentation: players need to understand each Aniimo's role rather than just compare stats. Exploration runs in real time, mixing resource gathering, quests and collecting new creatures.
Beyond the main journey the game runs several loops in parallel. Homeland lets you build and decorate a base and harvest resources with your creatures; co-op supports group play with tools such as the Horn and Flute; and Diamond Egg Heist is a versus mode built around contested objectives. Progress can be shared across platforms on the same account and server, and Xbox Cloud Gaming is supported.
Verdict
Aniimo suits players who like exploring, collecting creatures and customising a base more than ranked competition. As a free live-service game its content and balance will keep changing after launch, so newcomers should read the launcher notices before installing and pick the right server if they plan to play on several devices.
