Overview
CONTROL Resonant is the sequel to Control (2019), both developed and published by Remedy Entertainment. It launched on 24 September 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and is set roughly seven years after the first game. This time the protagonist is Dylan Faden, brother of the previous game's Jesse, who is drawn into a Manhattan warped by a paranormal phenomenon the game calls the Patterning.
OtaHub's take
Unlike the original, which leaned on guns and psychic powers, Resonant shifts its focus to melee combat built around Dylan's shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant. It adds character stats, multiple talent trees and customisable weapons, moving clearly toward action RPG. Rather than a true open world, it is split into large, distinct zones to explore.
Recent OtaHub coverage shows Remedy tuning the game after launch. Update 1.3.3 lowers the health of many enemies, improves stun chances, raises the caps of Aberrant Strength and Ability Strength, cuts skill respec costs and adds an Assist Mode with difficulty sliders. The PC version, however, hit a fault that forced players to download the entire game again to receive the patch.
Verdict
Resonant suits fans of Remedy's strange supernatural style who want a deeper action-RPG experience. Newcomers can play without the first game, though knowing Control makes the story easier to follow.
