Overview

Fate/strange Fake is a 13-episode TV anime from A-1 Pictures that began airing on 3/1/2026. It adapts the light novels with original story credit going to Type-Moon and Ryougo Narita. The story takes place years after the Fifth Holy Grail War in Japan, when signs of a new Holy Grail appear in the western American city of Snowfield and Masters and Servants begin to gather.

What sets it apart is that this war is warped by irregularities: a missing Servant class, impossible summonings, a nation shrouded in secrecy and a city built as a battleground. Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume direct. The series belongs to the Fate universe, with the prequel Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn and the follow-up Fate/strange Fake (Zoku-hen).

Verdict

Suits viewers already familiar with the Fate universe who enjoy multi-sided wars full of mysteries. Newcomers can try it but should watch Whispers of Dawn first to get the setting.
