Overview
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2, originally Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals 2nd Season, is a 13-episode TV anime from BONES FILM that began airing on 5/1/2026. It adapts the spin-off manga set in the Boku no Hero Academia world, with Kouhei Horikoshi credited as original creator. The synopsis for this season says Kouichi must step up as threats grow.
OtaHub's take
The story follows vigilantes who operate outside the official hero system, so the mood is closer to the streets than to a school. Kenichi Suzuki directs, Yousuke Kuroda handles series composition and Takahiko Yoshida designs the characters. This is the second season, and its direct prequel is Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia ILLEGALS, so the first season is where to begin.
Verdict
A fit for My Hero Academia fans who want another angle on the same world, and for anyone who likes action with a slightly grittier edge. You do not need the whole main series, but you do need season 1 of Vigilantes first.
