Sakamoto Days Season 2 has revealed more new footage through a character trailer and confirmed its return in January 2027. The new season sends Sakamoto and Shin on a dangerous mission at the JCC, Japan’s training school for assassins.
Sakamoto Days Season 2 Returns in January 2027
After its first season aired in 2025, Sakamoto Days returns for Season 2 in January 2027 on Netflix. The teaser trailer and first key visual were released in June 2026, followed by a new character trailer in August.
The new trailer introduces three important characters appearing in Season 2: Amane, Etsuko Satoda and Yotsumura. The new promotional art also keeps Sakamoto and Shin front and center, hinting at a new phase with more battles and more dangerous missions.
Sakamoto and Shin Infiltrate the JCC Assassin Academy
Season 2 continues the story as Taro Sakamoto and Shin infiltrate the JCC (Japan Clear Creation), Japan’s famous school for training assassins. Their goal is to find information about X, also known as Slur, the mysterious figure behind much of the upheaval in the assassin world. While Sakamoto operates undercover under a different identity, Shin also has to gather intel from inside the JCC.
In a separate storyline, ORDER members Nagumo, Shishiba and Osaragi are sent to Kyoto. However, the mission quickly turns dangerous when they are ambushed by an unexpected opponent.
Season 2 also starts digging deeper into the pasts of Sakamoto, Nagumo, Rion and Slur, revealing connections that had been kept hidden.
New Characters Open Up a Bigger Story
One highlight of Season 2 is the arrival of several new characters directly tied to the JCC and Sakamoto’s past. Satoda was once Sakamoto’s teacher at the JCC, while Amane is an outstanding student with a less-than-friendly attitude toward the Assassins Association. Yotsumura, meanwhile, is a mysterious figure who was among the founding members of ORDER.
With the story shifting its focus to the JCC and the assassins’ pasts, Season 2 is expected to significantly expand the world of Sakamoto Days, while continuing to blend high-speed action with Sakamoto’s comedic everyday life.
Sakamoto Days Season 2 is scheduled to air from January 2027 on Netflix.
