SEGA has unveiled the second-year roadmap for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, bringing Godzilla, Evangelion and Hello Kitty into six DLC packs in Season Pass 2. Alongside the $29.99 paid pass, owners of the game will receive free updates, starting with Bayonetta and a one-on-one racing mode.
Quick facts: the six DLC packs
| Pack | Release window | Main content |
|---|---|---|
| Godzilla | November 3, 2026, on the US store | Godzilla Escape course; three machines inspired by Godzilla, King Ghidorah and Mothra |
| Evangelion | January 2027 | Tokyo-III course; Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley; three EVA machines |
| Virtual Sanrio Puroland | Q2 2027 | A course of the same name; Hello Kitty, Kuromi and their two machines |
| SEGALAND | Q3 2027 | SEGALAND course; After Burner, OutRun and Super Megalo machines |
| Midgar Pack, the working title for the Final Fantasy VII Remake pack | Q3 2027 | One course, two racers and one machine |
| Reload Revival Royal, from the Persona series | Q4 2027 | One course, two racers and two machines |
This schedule comes from the US Xbox Season Pass 2 listing. SEGA's Japanese announcement dates Godzilla for November 4. Neither page specifies an unlock time, so an exact release time in Vietnam cannot yet be established. Packs after Godzilla have monthly or quarterly release windows.
Two strands to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year 2
The roadmap combines paid crossover packs with courses, racers and machines, and free updates that add characters and ways to play. Existing owners therefore have new content to try even without purchasing Season Pass 2.

The crossover packs also differ in what they include. Godzilla focuses on a course and machines, while Evangelion adds Rei and Asuka as racers. The Sanrio pack puts Hello Kitty and Kuromi on a Sanrio park-themed course. The Final Fantasy VII Remake and Persona listings confirm the size of their packs but do not name their racers; a favorite character's inclusion should not be taken for granted.
Season Pass 2 pricing and purchase bonuses
Season Pass 2 is available for $29.99 on the US Xbox store and requires the base game. The same store lists the base game at $39.99 and the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition at $59.99. These are US prices; the amount shown in your store depends on platform and account region.
Beyond the six DLC packs, Pass 2 buyers receive SEGA controller decals and three machines inspired by the Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast. The decals are available upon purchase, with the machines scheduled for the first content drop in early November. These purchase bonuses should be distinguished from the free updates available to owners of the game.
Super Shadow has a separate requirement: you must own both Season Pass 1 and Season Pass 2 to receive the racer, Super Dark Flare machine and accompanying decal. SEGA confirms that buying DLC packs individually does not qualify, even if you buy the packs included in a pass. Super Shadow is only usable in Grand Prix mode, after the relevant early-November update.
What can players get without buying the pass?
The roadmap details published by Gaming Trend schedule Bayonetta for November 3 in the Western announcement, unlockable through Rival Duel matches. The McLaren Racing machine driven by Sonic is planned for late November 2026, followed by Persona 3 Reload's Aigis and her Palladion Dressy machine in early 2027. These belong to the free updates and do not require Season Pass 2.
Duel Mode adds one-on-one races at the start of Year 2. With a single opponent, using items to take or defend the lead becomes central; the mode supports CPU matches, online matchmaking and races with friends. It gives existing owners a new way to play before deciding whether to buy more crossover content.
Which platforms is the game on?
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC through Steam or the Epic Games Store. Check the DLC listing in the store where you own the game for compatible editions and pricing; the content list does not mean one purchase works across every platform.
OtaHub's take: buy for the content you want
Year 2 lets players try a new racing format through Duel Mode before paying for six crossover packs. If Godzilla or Evangelion is your main interest, compare the individual pack price with the pass in your store when it releases. If you are buying for Final Fantasy VII or Persona, wait for named racers. A roadmap stretching into late 2027 also means buying the pass today does not deliver all its content immediately.
FAQ
Does Season Pass 2 include the base game?
No. It is an add-on that requires Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds; distinguish it from a Digital Deluxe edition that includes the game.
Does buying the DLC packs separately unlock Super Shadow?
No. SEGA requires ownership of both Season Pass 1 and Season Pass 2. Super Shadow is only usable in Grand Prix.
Are all six packs available as soon as I buy Pass 2?
No. The packs release in stages, with the schedule extending through Q4 2027.
