Nintendo held two showcases back to back in the first week of September 2026: the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8 and a regular Nintendo Direct on September 9. The headline is the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, arriving on Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, along with a free new update for Mario Kart World.

Two Directs in Two Days
According to Source Gaming, the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8 ran about 30 minutes and was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda (1986–2026). The next day's regular Nintendo Direct ran about 45 minutes, starting at 7 a.m. PDT, and covered the rest of the Switch 2 release schedule.
The Ocarina of Time Remake and the Zelda Movie
According to Nintendo's official page, the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on November 5, 2026 on Switch 2, and pre-orders are open. It is the first piece of the anniversary celebration to get a firm release date. Source Gaming also reports that the live-action Zelda movie is set for theaters on April 30, 2027.
Mario Kart World Gets More Classic Tracks
At the September 9 show, according to Game Informer's roundup, the Mario Kart news was a free update for Mario Kart World rather than a new Mario Kart game. The update adds 10 courses from Super Mario Kart, including Choco Island, Vanilla Lake and Ghost Valley, plus two new routes in Knockout Tour mode.
