Genshin Impact 7.0 takes the Traveler to Snezhnaya from August 12, 2026. Rather than being just a snow-covered map, the region combines icy plains, industrial settlements and structures tied to the Fatui, so exploring it depends more on reading the terrain and on regional mechanics.
How does Snezhnaya differ from earlier regions?
HoYoverse's exploration teaser emphasizes using gear and skill to cross the icy plains. That suggests the region's design relies on more than a cold-resistance bar and puts weight on tools, routes and interaction with the environment. The areas that expand through quests also make it hard to complete the map by simply running straight to every teleport waypoint.
The white of the snow makes it easy for trails, cave entrances and items to blend into the background. When exploring, unlock teleport waypoints first, mark underground entrances and finish each area's world quest chain. This works better than chasing individual chests and then having to come back when you lack an unlock condition.
Which exploration order to prioritize
- Archon Quest: opens up the setting, the mechanics and the story-related areas.
- Statues and teleport waypoints: create safe travel routes before you hunt for items.
- World quests: often open caves, shortcuts or regional tools.
- Character materials: mark them on the map as you find them to build your own farming route.
- Chests and challenges: clear them once the main map layers are open.
Do you need the interactive map?
Not if your goal is the story. The HoYoLAB interactive map is useful, though, for finding materials, completing achievements or checking for missing points. Sync pins selectively; too many pins from the start can turn exploration into a to-do list and hide the important landmarks.
What information should you treat with caution?
Region lists, collectible counts or unlock conditions posted before the update date may come from test servers. An earlier version of this article presented a Cryoculus count and region names as fixed facts without citing an official source directly. Those numbers have been removed to avoid misleading readers if HoYoverse adjusts the map.
The OtaHub view: what makes Snezhnaya worthwhile is its deliberate exploration rhythm: players read the terrain, unlock the mechanics and only then come back to collect. That suits a nation near the end of the journey better than simply making the map bigger.
