GFL2 Attachment Guide: What to Farm, When to Spend Chips

Attachments are the biggest resource sink in Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium. This guide sets out which set to farm in the level 58 Targeted Study stage, which rolls deserve calibration and when to spend gold chips so you don't burn resources too early.

Summary
The core advice: farm the Phase Strike set in the level 58 Targeted Study stage, calibrate with gold until the total percentage is high enough, and only then spend gold chips. OtaHub cross-checked the mechanics; the cost figures remain one player's experience.

Attachments swallow so many resources in Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium (Vietnamese name: Lưu Đày) that new Commanders often wonder if they are doing it right. On September 19, 2026, player Elaina Yukino posted an upgrade guide in the official Vietnamese GFL2 Facebook group built on two ideas: farm one shared set, and do not waste gold chips. This Girls' Frontline 2 attachment guide checks her post against Prydwen, IOP Wiki and Steam guides, and marks which parts hold up and which are one player's experience.

The original lives here: Elaina Yukino's post in the Girls' Frontline 2: Lưu Đày - Việt Nam Official Group. OtaHub has rewritten it in its own structure, keeping her recommendations while adding sources and notes for the Vietnamese server. If you are still choosing who to build, read the beginner's guide first, since attachments only pay off once you have a core team.

How attachments work

Each weapon has 4 attachment slots. The three regular slots carry up to 3 stat lines plus a set effect; the muzzle (or blade edge for melee Dolls) carries up to 4 lines and belongs to no set. That means you only need three matching pieces for a set bonus, according to Prydwen. CRIT DMG can only roll on muzzles.

Only gold attachments matter, because only gold has percentage lines. When you calibrate, each line gains a bonus of up to 200% of its base roll, and each calibration costs about 20,000 Sardis Gold plus attachments as fodder, per one Steam guide. A 3% ATK% base line that gains 100% becomes 6%.

Where and when to farm attachments

The author's tip: around Commander level 45 you can already clear the final level 58 stage of Targeted Study, which has the best gold drop rate. Prydwen confirms level 58 unlocks at account level 43 and gives about 2 to 3 gold attachments per run.

Two practical details from a Steam guide: each tab of the mode drops only the weapon group printed on it (AR and SG; SMG and MG; sniper and blade; handgun), and you pick the set you want before fighting. So choose the tab for your main DPS's weapon type, then choose the set.

The three sets worth farming

SetEffectBest forNotes
Phase Strike (Đả Kích Nguyên Tố)+15% damage to targets with elemental debuffsAlmost any teamOnly elemental debuffs (Burn, Freeze, Hydro and so on) count; Movement Down does not
Close Assault (Cường Công Áp Sát)Per the author: +12% damage and +24% melee damageMelee Dolls such as VoymastinaGlobal sources assign this set to blade and melee users; the numbers have no second source
Summon Boost (Triệu Hồi Đỉnh Cao)+20% damage for the Doll and her summonHydro teams, for example LiushihThe author notes summons without a physical body (like some of Springfield's birds) do not count

Why does Phase Strike come first? Prydwen also picks it as the shared set and says dedicated elemental sets add only 5% more, worth it for big spenders. You farm one set and pass it around instead of building one set per element. The author adds that leftovers should go to secondary characters.

One caveat: the Prydwen and IOP Wiki guides stop at 12 sets, without Close Assault or Summon Boost. Those two appear in newer guides, so if older material does not list them, the author is not wrong. The Vietnamese server may also trail the global build, so check the set list in-game.

The damage formula and why DMG% saturates

The author gives a reference formula the community uses:

Final damage ≈ [ATK ÷ (1 + DEF/ATK)] × CRIT DMG × (1 + total DMG%) × skill multiplier × weakness factor

OtaHub found no official formula published by the developer, so treat this as a simplified community formula. The key idea is that DMG% sources (self buffs, Gunsmoke buffs, guild buffs, supports, attachment sets) add together instead of multiplying. With around 450% DMG% already, an extra 5% from a dedicated elemental set adds only about 1.1% final damage.

Total DMG% nowSwap +15% for +20% (add 5)Final damage gain
300%305 ÷ 300+1.7%
450% (the author's example)455 ÷ 450+1.1%
600%605 ÷ 600+0.8%

The more sources you stack, the less each extra point is worth. The author ranks stat usefulness as ATK, then CRIT DMG, then DMG%, and because ATK% is easy to find, extra CRIT DMG sources tend to beat extra ATK%. That is her experience-based judgment; test it on your own team.

Gold chips: use them at the right moment

The Fire Control Calibration Chip (Chip Chỉnh Hỏa Lực) is rare, and the author keeps repeating: do not waste it. IOP Wiki calls the global item the Targeting Calibration Chip, and a CN-version roundup names it the Fire Control Calibration Chip, which matches the Vietnamese name. It is used only for Extreme Calibration, which opens once every line on the piece is at +100% or more.

Each chip comes with 50,000 gold. According to a Steam guide, if a line's base value is not at maximum the chip raises the base first; once it is full, each chip adds 10% up to the 200% cap. The author sees it more simply: each chip moves a line up one tier. One trap to remember: after Extreme Calibration, normal calibration is no longer possible on that piece.

Here are the base-value tiers the author reports, which decide how many chips a piece needs:

LineTier 1Tier 2Tier 3Tier 4 (max)
Flat ATK17212324
ATK%2.6%3%3.4%3.8%
CRIT3.5%4%4.5%5%
CRIT DMG (muzzle)3.5%4%4.5%5%

OtaHub could not find a public source listing these tiers exactly, so treat them as the author's observed values. The chip arithmetic is easy to check, though: a piece with 3.4% ATK%, 4.5% CRIT and 21 ATK needs 1 + 1 + 2 = 4 chips to fill its base values. The author calls anything under 4 chips acceptable and 4 borderline.

As for the 450% and 600% marks: that is the total calibration percentage the game shows, and the thresholds are the author's own. Since each line caps at 200%, a full 3-line piece is 600% and a full 4-line muzzle is 800%. Both thresholds equal an average of 150% per line, which is OtaHub's reading. The author keeps calibrating (it costs only gold, which can be farmed) until 3-line pieces reach roughly 500 to 550% and muzzles reach 650% or more, then considers chips.

Checklist: upgrading one attachment

  1. Pick the Targeted Study tab for your main DPS's weapon type, choose the set, and run the highest stage you have unlocked.
  2. Keep only gold pieces with ATK%, flat ATK and CRIT lines (plus CRIT DMG on muzzles). Pieces with HP or DEF lines are only stopgaps.
  3. Stopgaps: level them just enough to clear stages and never spend gold chips on them.
  4. Once you have 4 pieces with the right lines, check each line's base tier and count the chips needed to fill them. At 4 or more, consider a different piece.
  5. Calibrate with gold up to the targets: at least 450% (3-line) or 600% (muzzle), ideally 500 to 550% and 650%+. Compare each result with the old one before keeping it, since the game lets you revert.
  6. Do not use Precision Boost Chips (likely the "orange chips" the author mentions) when re-calibrating. A Steam guide warns they only guarantee a minimum of +100%, so on a line that is already higher they can make it drop.
  7. Confirm every line is at +100% or more, then use gold chips to lift base values and percentages.
  8. The end goal is one finished set for under 60 gold chips.

Real costs: the author's numbers and OtaHub's math

Having built about 15 maxed sets, the author estimates each finished set costs about 80 USB (the energy used in this mode), 5 million gold and 60 gold chips. That is one player's experience, not a standard, but it shows why she recommends farming one shared set.

A rough cross-check: 5 million gold equals about 250 calibrations at 20,000 gold each, as the Steam guide lists. Chips mainly come from the platoon shop, the monthly shop and event shops, so 60 chips for one finished set is a matter of months, not weeks. Count what you have before deciding which set to max.

OtaHub's take

The most useful lesson here is the order, not the numbers: calibrate with the cheap thing (gold) first, spend the scarce thing (chips) later, and only once, because Extreme Calibration does not let you go back. Most overseas guides explain the mechanics well but say little about timing. Elaina Yukino's post fills that gap.

Two things OtaHub would treat carefully. First, the 450% and 600% marks are personal rules of thumb, not game-set milestones; if your team is short on chips, lowering the bar is not wrong. Second, attachment meta shifts with updates: material from 2024 lists only 12 sets, while the post mentions newer ones. Check the set list and effects in-game before committing resources. For picking who to build, see the F2P T-Doll roll guide; to judge the game overall, read the 8.5/10 review and the Vietnam launch report.

FAQ: GFL2 attachments

What is the Fire Control Calibration Chip in Girls' Frontline 2?

It is the Vietnamese-server name the author uses for the rare chip spent on Extreme Calibration of attachments. Global sources call it the Targeting Calibration Chip (some write Targeted Calibration Chip). Each press costs 1 chip and 50,000 Sardis Gold.

Where do I farm attachments in GFL2?

In Targeted Study, found in Supply Missions. The top stage is level 58, which unlocks at account level 43 according to Prydwen and drops roughly 2 to 3 gold attachments per run.

Which attachment set should I farm first?

Phase Strike: +15% damage against targets carrying an elemental debuff. Prydwen and the author both treat it as the safest shared set; a dedicated elemental Boost set is only 5% better.

When should I spend gold chips?

Only when every line on the piece is at +100% or more after calibration (the game's requirement) and, by the author's rule, the total is above 450% for 3-line pieces or 600% for 4-line muzzles. Once you use Extreme Calibration you cannot run normal calibration on that piece again.

Where do gold chips come from?

IOP Wiki lists the monthly shop, the platoon shop and rewards. How many you get each month depends on each server’s events and shops, so check the in-game shops.
