OtaHub's take

The Earth of the distant future is covered in thick clouds, the sun no longer shines, plants wither and oxygen is thin. To fight extinction, humankind has developed a technology that turns humans into plants to produce a little oxygen. Toshiro Kamiya, whose mother is ill and whose job barely pays for her medication, must choose between saving his family and saving himself. Atsushi Yukawa directs and Jin Tanaka handles series composition.

Verdict

It suits viewers who like dark sci-fi that raises heavy ethical and psychological questions. As a standalone series, newcomers can start from episode one. Viewers sensitive to this subject should think twice. Be ready for a heavier story than most other shows this season.
