5 years. That's how long Asta and Yuno fans have had to wait since Black Clover Season 1 ended, only being somewhat comforted by the movie. Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King released in 2023. Now that wait has come to an end: at Anime Expo 2026, the studio behind the series suddenly released the first full trailer for Black Clover Season 2, confirmed the new season will air on October 2026. Audiences present at the event were also given the privilege of previewing the entire opening episode, and according to many reactions spread on social networks immediately afterward, the trailer did what a promotional product rarely can: make fans stand up and applaud in the middle of the theater.
An unexpected name for the opening song
The detail that makes the community talk the most is not the plot, but the music. Rock band WANIMA, a familiar name to shonen anime fans thanks to their fiery punk-rock style, will be performing the opening theme for season 2. For those who have followed WANIMA in previous projects, this choice is not surprising: their fast-paced rhythm and almost limitless energy seem perfectly suited to the continuous magic combos that are Black Clover's trademark.

Old director, old crew, and that's good news
One thing fans can rest assured about: this is not a complete "blood change". Ayataka Tanemura, who directed both Season 1 and the 2023 film adaptation, will continue to lead Season 2. The majority of the core production team has also been confirmed to return, meaning the distinctive visual style and action pace that made the series famous will likely not be interrupted or abruptly changed direction, unlike some anime that have experienced changes in production teams mid-season.

Content: raid on the Spade Kingdom
In terms of plot, Season 2 will adapt Spade Kingdom Raid arc, one of the most highly regarded chapters of the original manga. Asta and his crew are forced to venture deep into the most dangerous territory of the Spade Kingdom to rescue Yami, but that's just the beginning: this arc is also where a series of secrets about the origins of magic and the true identity of the main antagonist are gradually revealed, paving the way for a series of battles that will decide the fate of the entire storyline.
Where and when to watch?
Outside of Japan, Black Clover Season 2 will air globally Crunchyroll, almost parallel to the schedule at home. The specific premiere date in October has not yet been announced by the studio. It is likely that the detailed broadcast schedule, along with the expected number of episodes, will be gradually revealed in the coming weeks as the launch date gets closer.

After a five-year hiatus, Black Clover's return with almost the entire original cast, coupled with the selection of what is considered the biggest turning point in the storyline, makes this second season feel more like an event than a typical anime season. If Spade Kingdom Raid on the manga already kept readers flipping through the pages, the adaptation is likely to be even more dramatic, further enhanced by WANIMA's music.
