Square Enix just confirmed Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final chapter of the Remake trilogy, will have a "new look" at the event Gamescom Opening Night Live, taking place on August 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. PT (2:00 p.m. ET). Notably, director Naoki Hamaguchi will be directly present on stage at the Koelnmesse center, Cologne (Germany), a signal that this announced segment will be more substantive than a short cinematic trailer.
The final battle against Sephiroth
According to the official description on Steam, Revelation will take Cloud and his companions into the final battle against Sephiroth as the planet stands on the brink of destruction, meteorites blanket the sky, giant planetary guardians wreak havoc everywhere, and the flames of war rage. This is the largest and most high-stakes chapter in the entire remake project.
Expanded world, full cast of characters
Players will explore a large world, linked by the Highwind spacecraft, can choose a landing point and parachute into many different areas. The cast of characters this time is fully assembled, adding two new playable members: Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine, each with unique combat roles and skills, greatly expanding tactical depth.
New FITS customization system
In addition to refining familiar weapons, armor, skills and materia, the game introduces systems FITS Completely new, adding class-based abilities and special outfits, allowing players to further customize their gameplay to adapt to each match.
Launched Spring 2027, incentives for Remake and Rebirth players
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for release in Spring 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). Players who own save data from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will receive bonus items, including the Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia and the Phoenix Summon Materia.
