Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Frieren) is an anime by Madhouse adapting the manga by Kanehito Yamada (story) and Tsukasa Abe (art), serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 28, 2020.
The seasons
- Season 1: 28 episodes, from September 29, 2023 (a two-hour opener) to March 22, 2024, directed by Keiichirō Saitō
- Season 2: 10 episodes, January 16–March 27, 2026, directed by Tomoya Kitagawa
- Season 3: announced after the season 2 finale, adapting the “Golden Land” arc, expected October 2027
Manga and awards
As of January 2026 the manga has over 35 million copies in circulation, with 15 volumes as of December 2025. It has won the 14th Manga Taishō, the 25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize (New Creator), the 69th Shogakukan Manga Award and the 48th Kodansha Manga Award (shōnen).
Because season 2 ended in March 2026, articles describing a “new trailer” or “journey to Aureole” as not-yet-aired in September 2026 are out of date.
