Decapitation, detailed dismemberment, cocaine snorted straight from the inventory, sex scenes and even fetish content. With less than seven weeks to launch, the age-rating boards have shown that GTA 6 will be the most adult GTA yet.

What does the ESRB say?
The ESRB’s official page rates Grand Theft Auto VI at M (Mature 17+), with these descriptors: blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, use of drugs and alcohol, plus in-game purchase elements. The ESRB summary does not mention any specific scenes.
PEGI is far more detailed
The PEGI 18 description, republished in full by MP1st and summarized by Insider Gaming on October 2, is the part that drew attention. According to it:
- Violence: frequent, and players can attack any character in the open world, from civilians and criminals to police. The violence is bloody and highly realistic, and some weapons cause detailed decapitation and dismemberment.
- Drugs: frequent and prominent. Players can take drugs with other people and use them directly from the inventory. Most notably, cocaine can be carried and snorted straight from the hand at any time.
- Sex: strong sexual themes, including nudity, sex scenes and occasional fetish scenes. In nightclubs, players can pay for private dances.
- Language: frequent heavy swearing, and some discriminatory language appears on in-game TV shows and radio channels.
- In-game purchases: yes, but the game can still be played without buying anything.
Note: when OtaHub searched PEGI’s official database on October 6, 2026, GTA 6 still did not appear. The details above are a description quoted by the press, most likely from a store listing on a console storefront.

How does it compare with GTA V?
GTA V is also PEGI 18, but its description stresses violence against vulnerable characters, torture, gambling and sex scenes without genital exposure, and does not mention decapitation or fetish content. In other words, GTA 6 not only keeps the series’ level of heaviness but goes further in detailed violence and sexual content.
OtaHub’s take
Nobody expects GTA to be a family game, but the level of detail this time shows Rockstar wants Vice City as vivid and unfiltered as possible. If you plan to buy it for a younger family member, this is a truly 18+ game. For adult players, these descriptions hint at just how free GTA 6’s open world will be.
