GTA 6 is expected to bring a dynamic weather system that recreates many of Florida’s distinctive climate conditions, helping create a more realistic and lively open world. It’s seen as one of the game’s notable features alongside its ecosystem, outdoor activities and places to explore.
1. GTA 6 Weather Recreates Florida’s Distinctive Climate
Grand Theft Auto 6 takes players to the state of Leonida, inspired by real-life Florida. Besides Vice City, the map includes notable areas such as Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and the Leonida Keys. This open world offers many activities such as basketball, surfing, diving and skydiving, all taking place in different environmental conditions.

According to recently revealed information, GTA 6 won’t just have sunny weather but will also simulate less sunny conditions, noticeably changing the landscape of Leonida. Rockstar had previously mentioned a dynamic weather system in job listings related to the game.
Given the Florida-inspired setting, many players believe GTA 6 could feature extreme weather such as tropical storms or tornadoes. However, Rockstar hasn’t confirmed these phenomena specifically, so they can’t yet be considered official features of the game.
2. Weather Adds Depth to the Open World of Leonida
The weather system isn’t the only element Rockstar is focusing on. Leonida is presented as a region with rich wildlife and many outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. That makes the open world more varied rather than revolving only around main missions.

Beyond the natural environment, GTA 6 is also expected to significantly expand the number of interior locations to explore. Nightclubs, apartments and the characters’ own homes are said to add more activities and interactive spaces. In particular, changing weather could make each area feel different depending on the time. Scenery under sunshine, rain or bad weather could look and feel noticeably different while exploring.
3. GTA 6 Keeps Revealing Links to Previous Games
Besides weather, GTA 6 is also drawing attention for details connecting it to earlier games in the series. Rockstar confirmed the return of Valentina, a character from Grand Theft Auto Online, through the Extended Look trailer.
Another character in the trailer has been noted by the community as looking like Phil Cassidy, a familiar face from GTA: Vice City. However, Rockstar hasn’t confirmed whether it is Phil Cassidy.

By continuing to expand Leonida with many new environmental systems, GTA 6 is expected to deliver a significantly more detailed open world than previous entries. The game is currently scheduled to release on November 19, 2026.
