Take-Two Demands an End to the GTA 5 Project
Take-Two sent a cease-and-desist notice to Paralympics Productions, demanding that the group end its project porting GTA 5 to Nintendo Switch and Android. Mojso, the group’s CEO, confirmed that the demand means both projects will be cancelled, and Paralympics Productions expects to shut down on October 3, 2026.
The Switch project aimed to make GTA 5 run natively on Nintendo Switch hardware, without relying on streaming or emulation. The modding group had been working to adapt the game to the device’s ARM architecture.
Rockstar Updates Its Modding Rules
Take-Two hasn’t announced the specific reason behind its demand to end the project. However, Rockstar Games had previously updated its modding rules, which prohibit modifying its games to run on consoles, hardware devices or other platforms that Rockstar hasn’t officially released them on.

This rule is relevant to the Paralympics Productions case, but Take-Two hasn’t confirmed it was the direct reason the project was stopped. Earlier, Mojso had also polled the community about releasing an Android version after the Switch port or developing a paid online mode on unofficial platforms. Some users believe these plans may have drawn attention to the project, but there’s no official confirmation yet.
Paralympics Productions Officially Disbands
Following Take-Two’s demand, Mojso announced on X that the performance update for GTA 5 on Switch and the Android project in development would both be cancelled. The CEO also thanked the community for supporting the group throughout development and confirmed that Paralympics Productions will officially shut down on October 3, 2026.
That means the effort to get GTA 5 running natively on Nintendo Switch will end before the project could be completed. The move also comes as GTA 6 nears its launch date, drawing enormous attention to the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
