Halo: Campaign Evolved, the remake of the classic Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, officially launched on July 28, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5 for the first time, following an early access period that began July 23. The game is available day one on Game Pass.

Halo Studios lists 13 changes designed to modernize the experience. On controls, sprint is now mapped to L3, grenades to L1, weapon swap to triangle, and reload to square, while the Warthog uses a modern control scheme with the left stick for steering, the right stick for the camera, R2 for gas, and L2 for brake and reverse. A new smart-link aiming system provides roughly 1.4x zoom to help hit distant enemies more accurately.

On survival, health now regenerates like shields, removing the need to hunt for health packs as in the original. Enemy encounters have been reshuffled, with enemies from later Halo installments added in, and players can now hijack enemy vehicles or wield an Elite’s energy sword. New content includes three prequel missions covering Operation Meteorite, set one year before the main story, plus 42 Skulls and 13 Terminals placed differently than in the earlier Anniversary remaster.
The game also received a refreshed UI, clearer tutorials, scope aiming for every weapon, a reworked score, and full DualSense haptic feedback support. Online co-op supports four players with seamless cross-platform play and shared progression, plus two-player split-screen on consoles. You can find more on our latest news and Gaming pages.
