Overview
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is an anime based on the Legends multiplayer mode of the game Ghost of Tsushima. It was announced in early January 2025 for an exclusive Crunchyroll release in 2027. At Crunchyroll's New York Comic Con 2026 panel on 8/10 (US time), it was announced that the anime has moved to 2028, according to Anime News Network and Final Weapon. The reports give no reason for the delay and no specific date.
OtaHub's take
On staff, Takanobu Mizuno, who directed The Duel episode of Star Wars: Visions, directs. Satoshi Maejima and Gen Urobuchi write the scripts, with Urobuchi previously announced for series composition. Takashi Okazaki designs the characters, Keiji Inai composes the music and Yoshikazu Iwanami is sound director. Two voice actors were newly announced, Mayumi Sako and Shinya Fukumatsu, with roles not stated. Kamikaze Douga is the animation studio, HAYATE Inc. oversees production, Aniplex collaborates and Sony Music is the music partner.
The story, specific characters and release date have not been announced. Attendees at the panel saw a work-in-progress preview, but the sources OtaHub opened do not describe it in detail, so any guess about content is premature.
Verdict
It suits players of Ghost of Tsushima who like the samurai mood and want to see what a team with Urobuchi and Okazaki does with Legends. With no story or date yet, the sensible move is to follow Crunchyroll's updates before expecting anything specific.
