Overview

Silent Hill: Townfall is a psychological horror game developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code) and co-published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, released on 24 September 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC. Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia in 1996 to "put things right", but the town lies under heavy fog, seemingly abandoned yet far from quiet.

OtaHub's take

It is the first full-length Silent Hill presented entirely in first person. The series' classic radio returns as the CRTV, a pocket television used to tune unstable analog signals that reveal nearby threats, gather story fragments and solve puzzles tied to the narrative. Players can sneak past danger, distract enemies, or fall back on melee weapons and firearms when there is no other option.

Director Jon McKellan, formerly a UI designer on Alien: Isolation, brings over the signature of Stories Untold and Observation: interfaces built into the game world, grainy CRT screens and unease that comes from old hardware. As OtaHub notes, Townfall is part of Konami's Silent Hill revival alongside Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f, but it takes an auteur-driven psychological mystery route.

Verdict

For players who enjoy slow-burn psychological horror that values atmosphere, puzzles and a story about loss over action. Newcomers to Silent Hill can jump straight in, since it is a self-contained story that requires no knowledge of earlier games. Headphones are recommended, since the sounds from the CRTV and the noises in the fog are an important part of the experience.
