FromSoftware has delayed The Duskbloods to 2027 to allow more time to refine its rules and balance.
The October 29, 2026 announcement replaces the previous 2026 release window. The game remains in development for Nintendo Switch 2, but FromSoftware has not announced a specific month or day.
Why does The Duskbloods need more time?
Following August's network test, FromSoftware says participants responded positively to a concept that allows varied approaches and strategies beyond direct combat. The developers want to realize that concept more fully and have set aside additional time for final adjustments.
The announcement specifically identifies game rules and balance as the work being refined. FromSoftware has apologized to players waiting for the release.
What kind of game is The Duskbloods?
The Duskbloods is an online action game for up to eight players, combining fights against other players with encounters against computer-controlled enemies. This format, known as PvPvE, makes both rival players and threats within the environment part of the contest.
Players become Bloodsworn, beings who gain superhuman abilities through the power of blood. Summoned to moments when humanity approaches its end, they compete for First Blood. The setting therefore spans different places and eras rather than a single location and period.
In Nintendo's interview, director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that online multiplayer underpins this project. He also said FromSoftware would continue developing games focused on single-player experiences. For Switch 2 players awaiting The Duskbloods, the release window to follow is now 2027.
