The official X account for the supernatural horror manga The Summer Hikaru Died (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu) announced that Mokumokuren’s series will end after just two more chapters.
Release schedule for the final two chapters
Per the official announcement, chapter 50 releases on October 13, 2026, and chapter 51 — the series finale — arrives exactly one week later on October 20, 2026.
Five years on Young Ace Up
The Summer Hikaru Died began on Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Up platform in August 2021. As of June 2026 it has been collected into 9 tankobon volumes, building a loyal following through the suffocating rural-Japan horror atmosphere and the story of the friendship between Yoshiki and the “thing” that replaced his dead best friend Hikaru.
Anime season 2 confirmed, no air date
On the anime side, season 2 was confirmed on September 27, 2025, right after episode 12 of the first season aired, with CygamesPictures continuing production. As of now neither an official air date nor the episode count for season 2 has been announced.
