Official release details

  • Final chapter: chapter 271, “From Now On.”
  • Date in the Japanese magazine: September 30, 2024.
  • International reading: MANGA Plus by Shueisha and VIZ Shonen Jump, depending on region.
  • Final volumes: volumes 29 and 30 released together on December 25, 2024 in Japan.

The difference between September 29 and 30 on some sites comes from time zones and the release schedule of the international edition. For the Weekly Shonen Jump issue in Japan, the official date is September 30, 2024.

How does chapter 271 close the story?

This section contains light spoilers. The final chapter returns Yuji, Megumi and Nobara to a relatively small jujutsu investigation mission. Instead of adding one more big battle, the story shows the three characters applying what they have learned and continuing the work of the previous generation.

Yuji recalls Gojo’s words that each student needs to find their own path and not simply copy their teacher. This ending stresses continuity: the jujutsu world has not become perfect, but the people who survived have a chance to change it through different choices.

The four epilogues in volume 30

Volume 30 adds 16 pages of new material, made up of four short epilogues focusing on Yuko Ozawa, Uraume, Nobara Kugisaki and Panda. This is official content in the tankobon edition, not a “chapter 272.” The epilogues add more on the fates or feelings of some characters but do not open a new long storyline.

Why is the ending debated?

Some readers appreciate that the story returned to its original mission structure and let Yuji live by Gojo’s legacy. Others feel that many issues, such as jujutsu society, the clans and the consequences of the Culling Game, were not explored enough. Both readings can coexist; an article like this should separate community reaction from official facts.

How far has the anime adapted?

The anime, produced by MAPPA, has continued with the Culling Game. However, the anime’s schedule and how it splits the story do not change the fact that the main manga ended at chapter 271. Anyone who wants to keep reading after the anime should check the corresponding chapter in the latest volume instead of jumping straight to the ending, because the final part contains major spoilers.
