Magazines Jump Shueisha's is having a much better year than before, with most of its series ending naturally instead of being canceled midway like last year. In addition, many authors whose series were canceled are returning with new projects, and the number Jump GIGA Summer 2026, released in Japan on 17/8/2026, is a clear proof.

The Food Wars duo returns after the Tenmaku Cinema stumble
Most notable is the return of Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki, the duo behind the huge success of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, the series completed its entire journey on Shounen Jump in 2019. After that, the two tried their hand at the new series Tenmaku Cinema in 2023, but this work was canceled after less than six months of posting because it did not gain the expected appeal. This time, they brought a 4-page one-shot titled "Futari Dake no Quiz-bu" (roughly translated: Just Two People Quiz Club), a short romantic comedy story.
Taishi Tsutsui: just released a one-shot, and has a running series
In parallel, Taishi Tsutsui, father of We Never Learn: Bokuben, also featured in a 4-page romantic comedy one-shot "Kanojo no Melting Outdoors". Notably, his follow-up project We Never Learn is titled Syd Craft: Love is a Mystery was canceled shortly after its release last year. However, currently, Tsutsui is still actively working on Weekly Shounen Jump as an artist for a humorous series about animals. Animal Signal, has only published a few chapters.
Second chances for veteran authors
While surviving in the weekly Jump magazine is always a tough challenge with the pressure of achieving almost immediate success, the reality is that no cancellation is the complete end for an author. Shueisha's continued giving opportunities to veteran writers to return with new projects, whether short one-shots or long-running series, is a positive sign that fans can still look forward to seeing familiar faces in the future.
