Kojima Productions has released a new teaser for Death Stranding Isolations ahead of its planned 2027 debut.
The October 30, 2026 update also confirmed author Tow Ubukata as the series composition and screenplay writer. The traditionally hand-drawn 2D anime tells a new story within the Death Stranding world rather than retelling Sam's journey from the games.
What does the Death Stranding Isolations teaser show?
The roughly 45-second video shows a cargo-carrying figure standing at the edge of an enormous crater in a barren landscape. Another scene shows a blonde girl crying inside a room. These images bring loss and isolation into the project's introduction.
You can watch the official teaser on Kojima Productions' channel. Isolations was announced at Disney+ Originals Preview in Hong Kong in November 2025. This update adds the video and a screenplay credit, while the release window remains 2027.

A new story after North America is reconnected
In this world, the Death Stranding is a catastrophe involving explosions caused when the dead enter the world of the living and collide with them. Civilization is devastated, leaving many survivors isolated. The new story takes place in North America immediately after Sam reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network, which links surviving communities.
Those restored connections also bring unforeseen consequences. The story introduces a girl forced into isolation after the disaster who gradually comes to prefer solitude and avoids contact with others. Unexpected encounters draw her out of that secluded existence.
Other characters include an old man who connects people through mysterious means, a female soldier caught in warfare and a boy angry at his own life. The new cast allows Isolations to expand the games' world through people who respond to isolation differently from Sam.
Tow Ubukata joins the production team
Ubukata is responsible for series composition and screenplays. His novel Mardock Scramble won the Nihon SF Taisho Award in 2003. He handles the writing alongside director Takayuki Sano.
Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer, with original character designs by Ilya Kuvshinov. E&H production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui and Bullet/Bullet, handles animation. Kojima Productions produces the series.
Death Stranding Isolations remains a working title. The series is scheduled to stream exclusively on Disney+ or other Disney services in 2027, with a specific premiere date still to be announced.
